"What is downtown?"

Downtown Sarasota is everyone's neighborhood, the heart of our community where residents and visitors can enjoy a unique lifestyle experience, an upbeat atmosphere, and the best of all urban amenities. More specifically, our downtown includes the City's Community Redevelopment Area boundaries and all walk-to-downtown neighborhoods. So, downtown encompasses the area bounded by Sarasota Bay to the west, 10th Street to the north, Lime Street to the east and Mound Street to the south.



What does it cost to become a member?

Annual membership dues vary from $100 for individuals, $150 for non-profits to $750 for large companies. Membership fees are fully tax deductible.

What does the DTP do?
The Partnership, a membership-based, not-for-profit organization in Sarasota, Florida brings together businesses, residents, merchants, not-for-profits, cultural groups, governments and other stakeholders to develop policies and implement programs that will make downtown the best it can be. The Partnership influence the downtown agenda by promoting our policies and addressing key issues, facilitating discussion among stakeholders and educating the community about the downtown.

How does the DTP relate to other downtown organizations?
The Partnership works collaboratively with all organizations concerned with downtown issues including the Five Points Neighborhood Association, the Downtown Condominium Association, the Rosemary District Neighborhood Association and the Downtown Merchants Association. The Partnership focuses on education, research and advocacy throughout the downtown. DTP also collaborates with the Coalition of City Neighborhood Associations (CCNA) and with individual neighborhood groups within close proximity to downtown. The Partnership also works closely with the city government of Sarasota to implement projects for downtown.

Why should I join The Partnership?
Membership benefits include special Forums, a subscription to our newsletter, a free subscription to SRQ magazine, website listing and much more. In addition, our members become active participants in our programs and activities to ensure their voice is heard as downtown embarks on unprecedented growth and change. Community leadership is vital as this process moves forward. Whether you own operate a business, own property downtown, live downtown, visit the city's center or enjoy the many entertainment and dining opportunities available in downtown, membership in The Partnership is for you. Not all of our membership is downtown-based; some members simply love downtown while others include businesses that are not located in downtown but do business there.  By joining, you'll have a voice in the future of downtown. Your interests and ideas will be reflected in policies put forward. You'll meet others with similar interests and make useful business-to-business contacts. You membership commitment will help enable The Partnership to continue a strong leadership role among key constituencies.

How is The Partnership Funded?
About a third of our funds come from membership fees. Close to half of our total funding come from our donors. The remainder come from programs such as our Downtown Destination Forums, Members Breakfast Meetings and our Annual Dinner Meeting. The Partnership at the present time does not receive direct funding from any governmental source.
